A Look at Desiderata - Day Five

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Avoid becoming cynical.

The individual invested in following his/her heart will never fall prey to unscrupulous merchants. By learning to trust our inner guidance, we are able to discern between truth and trickery. Even when we find ourselves in a business transaction which falls short of our expectations, we embrace the lesson without developing cynicism.

Those of us, dedicated to peace, know that most people, just like us, are seeking to be an expression of Love. We look for the Love in every situation; oftentimes filling a situation with light, where only darkness prevailed previously.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.

Our commitment to Love is what sets us free. It allows us to see the truth in every situation and in every fellow human.

Loving ourselves, allows us to be just who we are. Filled with unconditional love for ourselves, we have no need to be anything other than our true nature.

There can never be a need to feign affection, because our cups are naturally overflowing. The more Love we have for ourselves, the more natural this Love flows to everyone in our world.

The beauty of loving ourselves so completely is that this Love may never be withdrawn. Since we are not looking, outside of ourselves, to have our “need for love” met by others, it is impossible to become cynical about the availability of Love.

We are totally immersed in a field of Love. There is no place we can go, where Love is not. Love is absolutely omnipresent. All we need do to experience being fully and completely loved, at any moment, is to allow this “One Power” of the universe to consume us. It is only the barriers we have constructed and maintained, which keep us from the perpetual realization of this Truth.
