A Look at Desiderata - Day Four

Note: I thought I would be able to finish my insights on Desiderata in 7 days, but it is not evolving that way. In my efforts to keep these short, it is going to take a few days longer. Please bear with me.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Dreams keep us alive. It is the dream of a new day which helps us get out of bed in the morning. Our plans add direction to our life.

Look at any of the “walking dead” in your family or your community and you will find an absence of dreams, a lack of plans.

Achievements help in formulating new plans. Even so called “failures” are achievements. It is just as important, sometimes, to learn what will not work, as it is to find that which does. It is all about perspective and flexibility.

Peace demands flexibility. It requires an ability to find the blessing, or at least a willingness to look for the blessing, in every event. There are no failures in the life of a committed peace practitioner; there are only lessons.

I have learned that to live in peace, I must explore the gifts I have to offer. The sharing of these inner treasures is my career. As I become more adept at expressing the love, inside of me, I learn that real security comes through my willingness to share my gifts.

The individual who has dedicated their career to expressing love, in whatever form, possesses the greatest fortune. Regardless of outer conditions, this child of the universe will never be without the means to participate in this great exchange we call life. For it is in giving that we receive.

No greater security can ever be offered or accepted than that of the person committed to Love. In all that you do, express Love.

Peace can not be denied the person dedicated to expressing Love.
