Return to Innocence

I remember, I remember
The fir trees dark and high,
I used to think their slender tops
were close against the sky;
It was a childish ignorance
But now tis little joy
To know I'm further off from heav’n
Than when I was a boy.

-Thomas Hood, I Remember, I Remember

Jesus taught us that to enter into the kingdom, we must do so as a little child.

Most children are far more open to experiencing life from the perspective that “everything is” than we are as adults.

Our programming, our knowledge of what we find favorable or unfavorable, desirable or undesirable, tolerable or intolerable, etc. continues to shape who we are, with each passing year. Unchecked, we find ourselves adults with fully formed value systems. Often the older we become, the more rigid the parameters of the value system.

Peace awaits the individual willing to detach himself/herself from all of this learned judgment. To return to childlike wonder, is to return to peace.

Notice how many times you judge, even in subtle ways today; and know that this does not serve you in your pursuit of peace.

Practice seeing the world through the eyes of your joy-filled, inner child, and enjoy the kingdom.
