Weekly News of Hope

October 05, 2005

I had several favorable comments on the new format for posting the news this week, so I will continue it for now.

I did notice that only about half of the subscribers went to the web site and checked out the news. I realize that some are only subscribed as a favor to me, and I appreciate that.

I will continue to experiment with these pages. It is my hope to be able to do a broadcast of the News of Hope soon, and I am looking into ways to accumulate the necessary hardware to accomplish that task.

If you are one of the subscribers who look at the news, and find it enjoyable, keep my dream of doing a web cast of this type of news, in your thoughts and prayers.

Anyway, on with this weeks news:

Calling all Bakers

Martha Stewart is looking for the best bakers in America. She wants those secret recipes handed down by your grandmother.

Martha has a new, nationally syndicated television program, fittingly named "Martha" and she wants to find the best "non-professional" bakers in the U.S.

You may enter yourself or a friend, but fix your hair first, because the baked goods is not all Martha is looking for. To apply you must submit a 3 minute or less, creative video, which will WOW the producers.

Warm up those ovens, turn on the video cameras, and shake and bake.

I do not know what the prize is, but it will probably be award enough just to be close to Martha.

P.S. Please no jail house recipes. Martha already has those copyrighted.

Miracle Baby

I am sure there are millions of stories out there, just like this one; stories of faith, hope, and perseverance.

I particularly liked this story because the mother saw her baby's struggle for life in such a positive way. She learned that life was simpler when you stay present, focused on the now moment.

It is also a nice reminder of the upcoming March of Dimes campaign.

Making a Difference

This lady, Nonie Darwish, is an unlikely proponent of peace with Israel, when you consider that her father was killed by Israelis.

She has started a web site called Arabs For Israel, in which she highlights Arabs who support Israelis.

Read this description:

Who Are We?

We are Arabs and Moslems who believe…

* We can support Israel and still support the Palestinian people. Supporting one does not cancel support for the other.
* We can support the State of Israel and the Jewish religion and still treasure our Arab and Islamic culture.
* There are many Jews and Israelis who freely express compassion and support for the Palestinians. It is time that we Arabs express reciprocal compassion and support.
* The existence of the State of Israel is a fact that should be accepted by the Arab world.
* Israel is a legitimate state that is not a threat but an asset in the Middle East.
* Every major World religion has a center of gravity. Islam has Mecca, and Judaism certainly deserves its presence in Israel and Jerusalem.
* Diversity should not be a virtue only in the USA, but should be encouraged around the world. We support a diverse Middle East with protection for human rights, respect and equality under the law to all minorities including Jews and Christians.
* Palestinians have several options but are deprived from exercising them because of their leadership, the Arab League and surrounding Arab and Moslem countries who do not want to see Palestinians live in harmony with Israel.
* If Palestinians want democracy they can start practicing it now.
* We stand firmly against suicide/homicide terrorism as a form of Jihad.
* We are appalled by the horrific act of terror against the USA on 9/11/2001.
* Arab media should end the incitement and misinformation that result in Arab street rage and violence.
* We are eager to see major reformation in how Islam is taught and channeled to bring out the best in Moslems and contribute to the uplifting of the human spirit and advancement of civilization.
* We believe in freedom to choose or change one’s Religion.
* We cherish and acknowledge the beauty and contributions of the Middle East culture, but recognize that the Arab/Moslem world is in desperate need of constructive self-criticism and reform.

Hats Off to you Nonie. Thanks for making a difference.

Got Miracles?

Need a miracle and don't know where to turn?  A quick visit to St. Lawrence, in Attur, Karkala may be just what the doctor ordered.

Pilgrams here insist that St. Lawrence grants all the wishes of those who light candles and have faith.

It would be fun to attend the annual shrine festival, held in the last week of January. It would be a miracle to me.

I Have Not Read This Yet, But

It certainly looks interesting.

In a book that could change your life, psychiatrist-healer-author Daniel J. Benor offers guidance and real-life examples of how people can use their natural abilities to heal themselves. How Can I Heal What Hurts? is a masterpiece of documentation that guides and encourages readers to look to inner resources for healing.

I will be obtaining this soon and will have a further report.

Anyone who gets it before I do, let me know about it. There are great reviews from people I respect.

Hot New Website

Here is a great new site that offers free downloads for your mp3 player. You may also listen to online, or watch streaming videos.

Channels include: Motivational & Inspirational, Sales & Marketing, Business & Technology, Health & Fitness, Wealth & Wisdom, Leadership & Communication, Mentors Coaches Consultants, and Sports & Entertainment.

I listened to one segment on the Motivational and Inspirational channel and was very impressed with the guality of the sound. I will have to play more on this site, when time allows.
