It's About Letting Go

Sometimes the greatest treasures are those which can not be grasped.

Peace is like that. Inner peace is the most cherished prize known to man. It is sought by every human on the planet, even though many could not identify this, by name, as the object of their longing.

Some try to obtain it, in the same manner as they have accumulated physical things. I call this spiritual capitalism. This person believes that he/she can buy peace of mind by taking the right seminar or reading the right book. In short, this approach is looking for something in the outer to fill an inner void.

Some believe that peace will be theirs, after this lifetime, through following a certain dogma. By adhering to, their chosen set of rules, this person hopes to enjoy an eternity of peace.

I am not here to criticize any path, which rewards the seeker with the calmness and inner joy that one feels when living in peace. My philosophy has always been, “If it works for you, then stick with it. If it does not, find another way!”

I have met people, and have read authors, from every major religion, who have discovered inner peace. Each has taught me that peace is not something that may be grasped and held, like the gold ring at the carousel.

A life committed to peace is always dedicated to letting go of that which is not peaceful. Inner peace can not be obtained in the outer. You can not purchase it at www.buy_peace_now.com and hope to internalize its rewards.

It is always an inside job that requires being open and honest with yourself about what is and is not working.

Foster that which works and release that which does not. In other words, Choose Peace Now!

(There I just saved you from reading the thousand pages of A Course in Miracles ;-)

In closing, let me be sure that I am clear here. I am not the least bit opposed to reading every book and attending every seminar, workshop, or retreat to which you are attracted. My point is that none of these actions will gift you with inner peace. Only you have that power. Ideally, you will find the right words in one of these many tools, which will inspire you to do the inner work. Just know that the tools themselves will never do the work for you.

Thousands of certificates from workshops may make for great conversation, but they will never satisfy your souls longing for the experience of living life in the flow of unconditional love. That can only come by letting go of all that which is not LOVE!
