Be Gentle with Yourself

It is so true that day to day life teaches me about the path to peace.

All the hours spent in meditation; all the time in quiet reflection; these are investments, so that I may walk in peace, in a world prone to chaos.

Sometimes the walk, the test so to speak, gets to be overwhelming.

When this occurs, it is very important to give myself permission to pull back. I must honor myself, and nurture my spirit in any way that is available and attractive to me.

Perhaps I need to spend a day walking in the park. Maybe I need to get away from friends and family and commune with my spirit in some other way.

I always know what I need to do. The challenge, for me, is one of honoring what I know and following through with my promise to be gentle with myself.

I do not beat my children up when they feel overwhelmed by their world; nor will I berate myself for needing to walk away from the challenge, for a short while.

Today I will honor myself and ensure that my needs are met, so that I am energized to continue my walk of peace.
