Begin Today, Here and Now

It is never too late to begin a new experience of this life. No matter how many years we have accumulated; no matter how much illusion we own as our truth; no matter what we have defined our reality to be, we can begin, in this instant to create the life we wish to see manifest.

Consider this quote, by Kent Nerburn, from his classic “Simple Truths”: “Life is an endlessly creative experience, and we are shaping ourselves at every moment by every decision we make.”

We do not only create our lives during our childhood, nor did we stop creating our life yesterday. We are co-creators, with a conspiring, benevolent universe, in a moment to moment dance of life-altering consequence.

In this grand adventure, we can lead or we can follow.

What works best for me is to indicate the direction where I would like to go and then surrender, allowing life to lead.

I call this an active surrender because passive surrender implies that I do nothing. My creative process does not work that way. I must do the work at hand, which sometimes is as simple as remembering and gently prodding myself to give up control. Most of the time, it is simply a matter of acknowledging my fear, and saying “Yes” anyway.

If you truly want peace, notice that which helps you feel peaceful. Invest yourself in what you truly want. Your choices, in this and every moment, are creating your new world. Choose Wisely!
